Refund policy

Returns & Exchanges – Studio Matakana

We carefully choose everything we stock and hope you love your purchase. If something’s not quite right, we’re here to help. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 are not affected.

🛠️ Faulty or Damaged Items

If your item arrives damaged or isn’t working as it should, we’ll sort it quickly.

  • Please contact us within 7 days of receiving your parcel (so we can help fast)

  • Email contact@studiomatakana.co.nz with proof of purchase and clear photos

  • We’ll repair, replace, or refund in line with the CGA

  • If the fault is ours, we’ll cover reasonable return shipping

  • Items damaged through misuse or normal wear and tear may not be eligible

🔄 Change of Mind or Exchanges (Store Credit)

Changed your mind or need a different style? We’re happy to help where we can.
Change-of-mind returns are issued as store credit only.

  • Let us know within 7 days of receiving your order

  • Items must be unused, unopened, and in original packaging with tags

  • Please contact us before sending anything back

  • You’ll arrange and pay for return shipping

  • Original shipping costs are non-refundable

  • Once approved, we’ll issue a digital store credit (e-gift card) valid for 12 months

  • Exchanges depend on stock availability; any price differences are handled via store credit

🚫 What Can’t Be Returned

For hygiene and fairness, we’re unable to accept returns for:

  • Sale or discounted items (final sale)

  • Earrings and body products (health & safety)

  • Items returned used, damaged, or without original packaging/tags

  • Gift cards

Please choose carefully — we’re always happy to help with product advice before you buy.

📦 How to Return an Item

  1. Email contact@studiomatakana.co.nz with your proof of purchase, reason for return, and any relevant photos

  2. We’ll reply with instructions and a return reference

  3. Return the item in its original condition with proof of purchase

  4. Once received and approved, we’ll issue your store credit or exchange (and refunds only where required under the CGA)

📝 A Few Extras

  • Orders can’t be cancelled once placed

  • Returns must be received within 30 days of your order date

  • If the item is not faulty, return shipping is your responsibility
